Our Sweet Boy
Wow. Jacob has grown so much since we moved to Mexico. It's so much fun to see him growing and developing but also a little sad to see our baby changing so fast. It's also hard to be away from family during this time because they miss so much. I'm so grateful for Facebook and Skype so we can keep in touch that way. The last time we visited family Jacob was just learning how to stand and now he can run. He loves to play on his tip-toes and is trying really hard to jump. He actually caught his first air jumping on the bed yesterday. His vocabulary is slowly growing. He can say Hola, Hi, Bye, No, more, all done, agua, uh oh, woo hoo, clean up, Dora, Doctor -in a british accent (we watch a lot of Doctor Who),uno, dos, tres (although dos is his favorite). He has his own versions of arriba and thank you. He is learning Spanish but only as much as we know. Ender knows more but isn't home as much so I need to get with the program if I want Jacob to learn more. He's becoming a good little helper. He cleans up his toys, puts his dirty clothes in the laundry basket and loves to throw things away. He's a very social boy. He loves to wave and blow kisses to everyone he meets. He loves attention and showing off. He gives great hugs and kisses and likes to snuggle on the couch when he's getting tired. He's such a sweet boy!
One of the first pics we took in Mexico. I can't believe how tiny he looks.
I started this post forever ago but it kept screwing up my photos so a couple of things have happened since the above paragraph. Jacob and I had a month long visit in the States with family and friends. We had so much fun but I will post about that later as long as blogger cooperates. We have since been getting re-settled in Mexico. Jacob has gone pretty crazy with the amount of words and sounds he's been making. He's a great copier. He'll repeat what you say really well but it doesn't necessarily stick with him. He loves to sing. He sings his own versions of the clean-up song, twinkle, twinkle, abc's, and his new favorite: "Dynamite" by Taio (he sings the on and on and on part). Jacob was getting pretty rude with the way he asked for stuff while on vacation. He would yell more, more, more while doing the sign for it in your face. When we got home we really started working on saying por favor. He now says it for everything but he pronounces it more ma more. At least we know what he's saying and he says it with a smile. His newest words are nana, papa, bubble, apple, luna, sticker, adios, I did it (he says that after using the potty). He says his abc's a thru e. He loves to do the sound effects from Mr. Brown can Moo. I'm sure I have forgotten some of his new words but he's learning more everyday so the list keeps growing. Jacob has four new molars now which brings the tooth count up to 11. His 4th bottom tooth is finally gracing us with its presence. In just three months he's going to be 2 years old. It seems like just yesterday he turned one. Jen, Jacob's birth mom, came to visit us in Mexico for Jacob's first b-day
My 1 year old
We don't have an oven so we had to buy a cake for his 1st b-day. We couldn't find any chocolate so this was the messiest Jacob got. Still super cute!
Jacob is learning how to eat with a spoon. He still needs a lot of practice.
I just love that sweet face
Jacob had such a fun time dyeing Easter eggs this year
He's also done a really good job with potty training. He loves flushing the toilet unless he's in a public bathroom. Then it's too loud and scares him to death
Here's Jacob with our new dog, Rory
A day doesn't go by when Ender and I don't just look at each other and say I can't believe how lucky we are to have Jacob in our lives.
